Dan Price Rookie of the Year in Rochester, New York

Oak Park's Price Named Rookie of the
Year in Baseball for Rochester


Rochester, New York (May 20, 2005) - Senior pitcher Mark Jakubowski and freshman first baseman Dan Price have been
 honored by the Liberty League for their baseball skills.

    Jakubowski (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) was named First Team All-Liberty League as a relief pitcher. Price (Oak Park, IL/Oak Park-River Forest) was named the League's Co-Rookie of the Year.

   This is the first all-league honor for Jakubowski in 2005 and the
second for Price. Earlier this year, he was named the Rookie of the Year in the University Athletic Association.

    Rochester just completed its 2005 season with a 21-16-1 final
record. The Yellowjackets were fifth in the Liberty League standings
at 4-8. They tied for second place in the UAA championships with
a 3-3 record.

    Jakubowski appeared in 17 games, 14 as a reliever. In 45.1 innings,
he allowed 20 runs (15 earned), 18 walks, and had 34 strikeouts. He finished with a 3-2 record, a 2.98 ERA, and three saves. He led Rochester in appearances, strikeouts, and saves. He tied for the
team lead in victories. He was third in innings pitched.

    Price finished second on the team in average. He hit .350 (42 of
120) with four doubles, one triple, and 13 RBIs. He scored 18 runs. With 48 total bases, he had a slugging percentage of .400. His glovework was excellent: 327 putouts, five assists, and one error
for a .997 fielding percentage (in 333 chances). He took part in 39
of the 43 double plays turned by the Yellowjackets.
