Remastering, Twenty Legendary Recordings By Ma, Perahia, Stern,

Williams, Many Others Featured In New Titles
(New York, NY, July 19, 2004) Sony Classical has transformed 20
more of the most acclaimed recordings in its catalogue for a new series
called Masterworks Expanded Edition, enhancing each classic title with
additional tracks (many available for the first time in any format) and
state-of-the-art remastering using Sony's Direct Stream Digital (DSD)
System and SBM Direct for the best possible sound. All 20 titles
in
Masterworks Expanded Edition ? featuring the label's most esteemed
artists of the last half-century will be released on Tuesday,
July 27, 2004.
Like the first 40 in the series, each title appears in distinctive new
packaging, with the liner notes from its original release as well as
reviews that testify to its acclaim. Titles have been chosen to
guide
those who are trying to build a library of recorded classical music,
offering the essential masterpieces of the core-classical repertoire in
legendary performances. The new tracks add to the overall value
of the
series, along with special midline pricing. Over 100 titles in
the series
are planned for release over the next two years.
