Chicago Bull's Derrick Rose Shines Bright...But Atlanta Hawk's Al Horford Shines Brighter...Bulls Lose 113-108

By Mark Rotor

Prior to game time Tuesday, Chicago Bull's rookie Derrick Rose felt stiffness in his back but he was determined to play through it, and that he did!

Rose tied his career high scoring withh 26 points in a 113-108 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. Rose said "It just hit me (back Spasms) just before the game...

A Star is rising....... Rose has many eyes on his moves.

I don't even know where they came from. I haven't had them (spasms) since the 7th grade." During the game Rose felt stiffness that made him hesitant to sit down, during time-outs but didn't stop him from keeping the Bulls in the game with 9 field goals, 8 free throws, 10 rebounds and 6 assists.

Rose's performance was very impressive considering that he lead
or tied his teammates in scoring pts, Rebound and Assist while nursing back spasms.

If Derrick can perform like this with a stiff back, I am looking forward to seeing him play when he feeling 100 percent! Manny league observes believe that as Derrick's gains experience in the league and as his game (skills) matures the sky is the limit for the
this brilliant budding star.

However, Atlanta's Al Horford showed no mercy on the ailing Bulls nor his former University of Florida two time NCAA championship teammate Joakim Noah, scoring 16 points in the first half and
an additional 11 points at games end. Horford finished the game
with 27 points, 17 rebounds and 6 block shots leading the Hawks to convincing victory over the Bulls.

Horford said "We know that we are a running team and the coach (Mike Woodsen) said to run right back at them and they weren't getting back so we were getting easy points"

The 27 point performance was Horford’s best performance of the young season eclipsing his season average of 8.8 point per game by 18 points and rebounds average by 10.

The turning point in the game came when the Bulls battled back
from a 15 point depict with four minutes left to go in the 4th
quarter, down by eight points.  Unfortunately, the Bulls could not over take Atlanta being silenced by a 3-point dagger by sharp shooting guard Mike Bibby. From that point on Bulls traded baskets
and fell to the Hawks. After the game Bull's head coach Vinny Del Negro commented "Transition defense killed us...We're not
getting back." When asked about Rose's back injury Del Negro said "Derrick will receive treatment for his back on Wednesday and we will revaluate it on Thursday." It will likely be a game time decision for both Rose and Hughes.

Hughes is returning from a dislocated shoulder and has been practicing for about a week. Next up is the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night With All-Star Dirk Nowitzki scoring leader of the Mavs (25.2 PPG).
