Kevin  Harvick’s  quest  to  the  2006  NASCAR  Busch Series Championship effectively began following  the second race of the season at California Speedway – He took over the points lead and never looked back.

Thirty-five races later,  having  never  surrendered  the  lead & after  clinching  the Busch Series title with four  races  remaining – faster  than  any  other  driver in series history – Kevin Harvick
will claim the title this Saturday.

Richard  Childress,  car  owner  for  Harvick’s  car,  will  also  be  crowned  series  owner champion for the third time.

With  the titles in hand,  Kevin  Harvick  still  has  history  making goals to accomplish at this final race of 2006.

Harvick is  one  of  two   NASCAR  Nextel  Cup drivers competing full time in the Busch Series, the other being Hendrick driver Kyle Busch.  Both drivers also currently in the top 10 in the Nextel Cup “Chase for the Cup.”

Harvick  can  make  history this  Sunday  by  becoming the  first  driver  in  history to win both series titles in the same season. He currently is only  90 points behind leader  Jimmie Johnson.

The two time  Champion can also tie the all-time mark for wins in a season with a victory this Saturday. Sam Ard holds the record with 10 wins in the 1983 season.  Harvick  enters the race with nine, now second all-time.
