"A Lovely
Sunday For Creve Coeur" By Tennessee Williams
Opening
March 7,2003 running through April 6th 2003.
review by Ed Vincent
Tennessee
Williams has written a fine humorous play for the adult arena, but
the laughs
eventually give way to the title of the play “A Lovely Sunday for
Creve
Coure”, the name given to park-a locale in a Southern region. Do
not
forget
that “Creve Coure” is translated to ‘broken heart’ or ‘punctured heart’
either
way its not good for the heart. The existential theme of the life
of the
forlorn
becomes more clear as the smiles of humor fade. The all female
cast
is wonderful in their talent of keeping alive the spirit in which the play
was
written.

Fräulein
Bodenhafer, aka “Bodey”, played by Lisa Pearson tells her
roommate
Dotty Gallaway the local butcher is a fine man and
“Mr.
Butz always lets me feel his meat." Which allows her to see how
fresh
the meat is..a good spot for some grins.
Dotty
Gallaway, played by Cathleen Hennon, tells Fräulein Bodenhafer
that
she has been intimate with a school teacher. Tennessee Williams
has written
this well. Bodey had feared that Dotty may have crossed the
line
of propriety is told by Dotty that with the school teacher "the line didn't
exist.".
Helena
Brookmire is played by Heidi Drennan and does a wonderful job
of a
snobbish social climber. Errin Evans, a beautiful woman too, plays
a mentally
upset Sophie Gluck. Fräulein Gluck is out of gluck in much
of the
drama, but Errin Evans does a wonderful job in the portrayal.
Cathleen Hennon and Heidi Drennan pause
a moment for thought.

deceased canary has been stuffed and remains in his cage on display
as a
matter of show and honor. There are discussions and mentions in
dialogue
of everything from pre-Ptolemaic Egypt to premature ejaculations.
“A Lovely
Sunday for Creve Coure” is the tight rope of love and social
class,
a feast for the theater lover. “Highly
Recommended” OPJ
Cathleen Hennon makes a call.

incomparable
playwright to the poetic naturalism that first established
him as
a major artist. Set in 1935, Bodey pursues attempts at
match-making
for her brother and roommate, Dorthea - who is
in love
with another man. Unbeknownst to Dorthea "the other man "
has recently
announced his engagement in the local newspapers - a
notice
which is fanatically being hidden from Dorthea to spare her a
broken
heart. Classic Williams themes resound along with some
wonderful
rare comedy from this masterful playwright. "A world
where
dreams are as fragile as a glass menagerie. "-NY Times.
"Williams
has rarely been funnier, or for that matter, more
compassionate.
