Mel Thompson Displays Artwork at the
Oak Park Village Hall Gallery
The Oak Park Area Arts Council is pleased to present
Oak Park
artist and resident, Mel Thompson. Mel will
display her landscape
pastel drawings thru the months of March and April
at the
Oak Park Village Hall Gallery, 123 Madison Street.
Hours are
Monday thru Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm.
Drawn to the rich vivid colors of the pure pigments,
Mel fell in
love with the pastel medium several years ago.
She travels
extensively around the Midwest with camera in hand
capturing
that certain quality of light which only lasts a moment.
She then
works back in her studio to push and pull nature using
her photos
only as a springboard to capture the world as she
sees and
experiences it.
Mel earned a B.F.A. degree from Mundelein College.
She is a
member of the Illinois Artisans Program and her work
has been
exhibited at Concordia University, College of Lake
County,
River Forest Public Library, Village Players Theatre
and at
the Oak Park Art League. Her work is part of
the permanent
collection at Concordia University and BP Amoco’s
Corporate
collection, as well as private collections in the
U.S., Korea and
Japan.
