Ravinia and Hubbard Street Dance
by Ed Vincent

Below are some notes I made, scribbling in a small notebook,
not wanting to take my eyes off of the stage for even a moment.
Each group of words are records for each of the dance numbers
that were performed this Summer at Ravinia.

Hispanic flavored Berlin 1930's cabaret with inventive
choreography, fluid movements of a metamorphic dream,
- damn good.

Evolutionary dance about a stickhenge set, followed by a
socialization of movement rhymed with song and rhythm.

A celebration of movement soothed with light.  Dancing
shirtless wrestlers tumbling with drums.

Formal wear white shirt stadium wave.

Psychoanalytic dance, vocalized  in black and white.

Young Spring nymphs bathing in shimmers of luminescence.

Leapfrogs of sensuous delights.

These are some notes a jotted down while observing a
Latin Dance performance of Hubbard Street Dance at
the Pavilion in Ravinia.  Hubbard Street Dance is so good my
words do a disservice to their efforts.

You ask, would I recommend their work?  Most definitely
and then some more.
