Oak Park Resident Craig Bryan Charged with First Degree Murder.
(Chicago Police Arrest photo)
A Cook County judge at 26th and California in Chicago has denied bail today for an Oak Park resident who is not very well known by local police. Craig Bryan from the 4oo West Washington block in Oak Park, right across the street from Percy Julian Elementary school.
Mr. Bryan was arrested on August 20th for the June 2nd shooting of Keith Sutton, who lives about three miles away in Chicago on the 1700 block of North Monitor Avenue. Craig Bryan is alledged to have shot Keith Sutton twice with a handgun during a fight in Galewood Park on June 2, Sunday night at about 10:17 p.m. Bryan was said to be following Sutton when the fight began, we do not know the relationship or reasons for the fight. It was noted that there might have been a struggle over the gun which resulted in the shooting in the head and shoulder of Mr. Sutton.
When Craig Bryan was arrested and charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery with a handgun, he kicked the rear door a police car opened and attempted to escape from custody. He failed to escape and was charged.
Mr. Keith Sutton, 24, had not showed many signs of improvement after his shootings and was placed in hospice care at Westlake Community Hospital. Mr. Sutton died at the Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care in Westlake Community Hospital on Wednesday, October 16th at 7:50 p.m. The death of Mr. Sutton was ruled a homicide by the medical examiner and charges for first degree murder were then placed against Craig Bryan.
Was there gang involvment in the murder, drugs, a love relationship, revenge, someone cheating off anothers paper in High school or just uncontrolled rage and stupidity in the Austin community?
More will come out in the trial. Craig Bryan is due back in court on Monday, Oct. 21.
