Chicago Pagan Pride Day in Oak Park on September 9th
Oak Park, IL - September 09, 2012 – Celebrate the Autumn Equinox and help your community at Chicago Pagan Pride Day on September 9th, 11am in Oak Park. All ages are welcome at the free event, which will feature a public Pagan ritual, information on Pagan spiritual practices, live entertainment, raffle a silent auction along with a variety of local vendors. Attendees are asked to share the harvest by bringing a donation of a non-perishable item to benefit Greater Chicago Food Depository.
Chicago Pagan Pride is a local event that is affiliated with the Pagan Pride Project, a global organization whose mission is to reduce discrimination against Pagan religions. By providing accurate information, and by showing communities that their own neighbors and co-workers practice these religions, they hope to lessen prejudice against them.
Last year Chicago Pagan Pride had over 5oo people attend and over a thousand pounds of food was collected for the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Chicago Pagan Pride also collected and recycled old cell-phones and ink cartridges saving them from landfills and harming our environment.
Chicago Pagan Pride celebration will center on a religious service observing the Autumn Equinox, a time of thanksgiving in many Pagan traditions. The charity drive is a way to give thanks for the abundance of the year, and share it with our community. The ceremony will celebrate the diversity of the Pagan community and bless the results of the charity drive before it is given away.
The event will take place at the Historic Pleasant Home on Mills Park, 217 Home Ave, Oak Park, IL 60302. For more information, visit chicagopaganpride.org
