Woman Drives Car Into Subway Store and Strikes a 15 Year Old Boy.
by Ed Vincent About 5:00 p.m., an elderly white woman drove her four door Mercedes Benz from a North bound direction on Home Avenue straight ahead without turning into the Subway located at 1000 Lake Street in Oak Park. She drove into a large heavy planter and pushed it into the Subway. She also struck a 15 year old boy who was on the sidewalk. The boy was taken to the hospital for reported minor injuries and then released. The woman remained in her car until an ambulance arrived on the scene and there was no evidence noted of alcohol, low blood sugar or a stroke. The woman refused any medical attention and then had to deal with the police. People were in the Subway and young people were also only 3 feet from being driven into , plus one that was struck by the car. If a movie had been getting out or the toss of the coin had gone another way this could have been very serious, instead there were no reported serious injuries. ![]() ![]() © Suburban Journals of Chicago Inc. published by Suburban Journals of Chicago Inc. |
