Munch restaurant in
Oak Park

★★★★
"An Epicurean delight, one of the best Vegetarian/Vegan Restaurants in Chicagoland."
Suburban Journals of Chicago Inc.

review by Ed Vincent

Munch in Oak Park is a new vegetarian/vegan restaurant and I love to eat meat, so how could I review this place?  Easy the place is a delight and tasty too.

I would eat less meat if I had to kill all that I ate, but black angus beef is another thing, I could shoot cattle from 500 yards away with a 50 caliber rifle and then pretend it just died naturally.  I do eat vegetarian at least once or twice a week just for health benefits and in so doing it is greener for the planet as well.  It takes lots of plants to create one pound of meat so if you eat less meat you are using less food that others could eat.

This table has life long vegetarians, musicians, and lovers of great food.

On the night that I went to eat at Munch, the restaurant was packed with people, since it only seats some 22 people or so.  They also have carry out and since they have a full compliment of staff on hand someone could give you curb service if you called from your cell phone.  The owner, Robin, used to be a bar tender and now she is doing the opposite, something healthy and nature friendly.  Not just nature friendly, Robin is friendly about everything, she even has a pop made right here in Chicago and the owner of the company comes by to deliever it.

The decor and art are lively and entertaining.

The Vegan shake was to die for, but it's actually healthy, which is hard to believe because it tastes so good.  I sampled just about the entire menu and found the tastes of everything from the cookie dough shake to the sweet potatoes to be the most flavorful I have ever had.  If you are already a fan of this type of food you'll love this new restaurant.  If you want to try something different and healthy you'll want to come back for the taste and fun of a good healthy meal and great experiences for your taste buds.....

Munch restaurant announces revised menu and weekend brunch

Oak Park, IL – Traces of Robbin O’Harrow’s past as an adjunct college art professor can be seen scattered throughout her biggest art project yet- opening her new vegetarian restaurant Munch. A quirky restaurant interior that could be designed by none other than an artist features revolving art exhibits by art students and local artists, dramatic lighting fixtures, and a menu designed by O’Harrow herself. But behind her creative facade is another passion O’Harrow has chosen to focus on – bringing Oak Park a restaurant that offers “delicious, homemade, cruelty free, local, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.”

O’Harrow opened Munch in mid-July. The 22 seat restaurant in Downtown Oak Park was a quick hit for health-conscious diners. O’Harrow conquered the wave of popularity that comes with a new restaurant, and after getting to know her clientele, she is ready to bring them more of what they want.

Changes include a revised menu that will now offer more dinner options. Homemade soups are very popular and offered daily. The vegan shake options have grown and Munch is offering a pumpkin flavor for the fall season. Munch will also be offering a weekend brunch starting October 29th and 30th. Some items that will be offered are a vegetable packed tofu scramble, corn cakes with maple syrup and coconut oatmeal. Visit munchrestaurant.net to see menus.

Munch is open 11 am – 9 pm Tuesday-Sunday. For more information visit Munch’s website, or stay up-to-date with event details on their Facebook page.
