ComEd hosts demonstration of innovative tools that will power Illinois’ modern electric grid for municipal and business leaders Technology illustrates scope of proposed Energy Infrastructure Modernization Act

WHAT:

ComEd, GE and Silver Spring Networks will hold an open house to exhibit core components of smart grid technology, a dynamic electric delivery system designed to meet the advanced energy needs of business and consumers.

Municipal and business development leaders from across the region will view hands-on demonstrations of technology included in ComEd’s proposed $2.6 billion modernization project as part of the Energy Infrastructure Modernization Act (HB14), currently under consideration in Springfield.

Exhibits include:

Smart meter and in-home monitoring technologies that allow consumers to access and control their daily energy usage in real time.

Next generation electric cars and trucks, along with vehicle charging stations.

Google Earth display that shows the smart grid at work, and explains how utilities can reduce the duration of outages.
