Laurie McEathron Marchese
REFLECTIONS FROM THE HEART
review by Ed Vincent

Laurie McEathron Marchese has a new album just released featuring a wide selection of songs ranging from the well established cabaret tunes up to popular songs of today.  Her sung interpretations of current and past musical numbers show a nice sensitivity and feel for the melodies.  Whether it be operatic pieces, like “Summertime” from Porgy and Bess, where her timing and delivery are unique and memorable; to "I Dreamed a Dream" made popular by Susan Boyle her sound is pretty and precise.
Laurie McEathron Marchese is beautiful enough for the Moulin Rouge and talented enough for Madison Square Garden.  Her sultry demure is blended with innocence and charm.

Highly recommended by the Suburban

Laurie McEathron Marchese

My passion is music, my life is a performance, and my goal is to inspire.”

Laurie McEathron Marchese is a gifted vocalist who gets compared to legendary singers such as, Vanessa Williams, Sandi Patti, Sheena Easton, and Olivia Newton John.

Laurie’s started singing at the tender age of 7 in Chicago Illinois. She would stand in front of the television tirelessly and sing along with the Lawrence Welk Show to entertain her biggest fan’s Grandma Dorothy & Grandpa Doug!

At 12 years old she went on to audition for the Weslyan Church Choir in Oak Lawn, and was pleased to have been singled out by the ministers wife as having a three-octave range, which was considered a real gift! She became immersed with performing gospel music, and as a 16 yr old, she went on to win 1st place in an international vocal competition for The Weslyan Churches of the World, going on to win a scholarship to Weslyan College. Her success in the Gospel realm inspired her to tour as a Gospel soloist in various local churches across the country.

After Laurie’s Gospel career, she ventured off into the world of Musical Theatre. Her first professional musical was a Chicago hit written by Academy Award and two times Grammy winner Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley,One Shining Moment,” which was a musical tribute to the Kennedy’s directed by Tony Award winner Dennis Rosa. After working with Dennis, he hand picked her for his next production Off Broadway in New York’s East Village where she performed as Rhonda in the Beach Boy’s musical, “Surf City,” both directed by Dennis Rosa. You may then have seen her in the “Medium at Large” musical written by Julia Cameron, famous author of “The Artists Way,” starring Broadway talent John Herrera.

With this background she crossed over into professional musical theatre and commercials and film, having starring roles in feature films such as, “My Bodyguard” starring Matt Dylan and Ruth Gordon, “The Roommate” starring Barry Miller and Lance Guest, “Mario and the Mob” Starring Robert Conrad and Ann Jillian. She then performed in three Pat Hurley comedy specials for WGN..

One of my proudest moments as a creative artist was when I produced and starred in my own, one woman show, So Many Stars, featuring the Laurie Marchese Trio.” In this grand experience that Laurie created, she was hands-on in every aspect of the show. The show ended up being a local success that created a higher plateau and respect for her live performances.

Throughout her career, Laurie has opened for National acts including Julie Wilson, Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels , and performed with the prestigious Bill Porter and Michael Lerich Orchestra’s. She has also been featured at private functions as well as singing in night clubs and other venues internationally and throughout the Chicagoland area, such as The Chicago Hilton Hotel, The Fairmont and The Gold Star Sardine Bar. Laurie then enjoyed the challenge of performing our National Anthem for The Bears, The White Sox and The Chicago Cub’s. In her eclectic musical career, Laurie has also recorded and performed with such musical luminaries as Jeremy Kahn, Herman Jackson, Gary Mallabar, Dean Pleasants, Kamil Rustum, , and Brad Williams just to name a few. Laurie has also shared the microphone with legendary singer Richard Marx on jingles for Kellogg’s, Sunkist, McDonalds, and numerous others produced by his legendary father Dick Marx “The Jingle King”, as well as numerous voice-overs for companies such as: Amoco, and Pepsi.

Right now you will find Laurie in the studio, recording songs for some major music publishers. Meanwhile Laurie is also collaborating with the world famous producer, Michael Vail Blum under the label, Titan Music Inc, currently working on her solo album Laurie McEathron Marchese: Reflections from the Heart,” which was released on January 1st 2009. The album is based on classic American Songbook with a tender touch of Jazz and Broadway, with influences from Bill Withers, to George Gershwin. Available on I-tunes and CD Baby.
