Talented
Oak Park Actor Plays Five Characters  In Chicago's Jersey Boys.
review by Ed Vincent

"An exhilarating biographical drama, with toe tapping
hits and  a time when love and respect were in the lyrics
and lives of many....a great show -- come and see it several
times...."
Suburban Journals of Chicago Inc.

Jersey Boys is not just  a popular show, it has some
five different groups performing this show in cities
all around the world, plus a traveling show doing
the same.

On the night that we went to see the performance and
see our own special hometown hero of the stage, we
were surrounded by people who had literally seen
this production in Chicago three or more times.

There are some folks from San Francisco who have reportedly gone 16 times or more, so there seems to even be a cult level to this show.  I have not spoken
to anyone who has not loved this show or has not recommended it.

Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi
were the Four Seasons and
Dominic Scaglione Jr. plays Frankie Valli, Shonn Wiley plays Bob Gaudio, Michael Cunio as Tommy DeVito, and Michael Ingersoll as Nick Massi.

Oak Park legend  Jonathan Weir plays a total of five different
characters (
all with power and authority of various amounts) and
I didn't even notice all of his roles until I spoke with Mr. Weir
and he was pleased that I didn't spot him in all of the roles.

I  have  had  the  delight  to  see  Mr.  Weir  in   "The

Christmas Carol" at the Goodman theater,  portraying the
part  of
Scrooge (he was wonderful in the lead role with a grand
metamorphosis of the sardonic cheapskate
).  I enjoyed the Lion King with his feats of costumed glory (when he did back up).

Jonathan Weir

When Jonathan Weir appears on stage as the powerful
mobster Gyp DeCarlo, he has your attention and repect or you might be in trouble.  We Oak Parkers have a long history with gangsters and architects. Some designed nice buildings and some designed funerals for their competition and also helped get some Presidents of the United States elected.

Mr. Weir living in Oak Park for a couple of decades
and four kids in the Oak Park schools, could have the mafioso in his blood,
or at least his actors stash.

Mr. Weir also teaches classes for theater students
at Loyola University.  He has been requested to perform a host of other roles in the area, and in other
towns, but he is currently busy with his role in the Jersey Boys.  Tickets are being sold now for shows
up until October of this year, it is still an open run
and there are full houses most nights of the show-
and always standing ovations.

The sets, lighting, music, choreography, and story
are inviting, and blended with strong language and
down home fun.

Highly recommended............
