When getting even cloaks itself in the guise of justice and begins to cost the taxpayers thousands and thousands of dollars to assail a well intentioned citizen who is a bit quirky with a smile, its time to call a timeout in your
head and try to use reason before you take rash action.
Dr. Les Golden is a unique, and gifted individual who has offered numerous varied opinions from saving the lives of baby bunny rabbits, perceived excessive spending on sodding of Oak Park parks due to very active soccer use, carcinogenic compounds alleged to have been stored in the open at Field Park and wasteful governmental spending in general-just for starters. This gadfly of potential good has also given birth to psychological rashes on the Oak Park Park's board and some of its employees. Whenever a person takes
a job employed by the people, you can expect a wide expression off opinions and is often the case, more than not, the usual suspects may offer their opinions more than once.
Les Golden is a prolific pontificator with strongly held beliefs sometimes 100% scientifically accurate and at times maybe a little less accurate, but
a council often well worth considering. I have heard complaints over the
years from Park Board staff of the call de jour' from Monsieur Golden, perhaps multiplied many times over could give one a headache. If not a headache, an individual with an authoritarian demeanor might seek revenge with an a person who has bothered them over and over, from their vantage point.
If you know Les Golden, or have gotten to know him over years of discussion,
letters to the press and Village meetings, you should also be aware of his temperament and intonations. When listening to his latest view, and noted years of his opinionated input - unless you were a dullard in school - you
should have figured out the old adage "consider the source." Mr. Golden, with his razor edged criticism, perhaps in the form of a complaint, is not someone to be taken personally, but perhaps something to be weighted with
a grain of salt and not a mountain of road salt in the form of a criminal trespass complaint.
When Dr. Golden was alleged to have committed criminal trespass to Field Park, where we have seen the footsteps of "hundreds of children" and some adults entering and leaving the Park at will, no trespass signs on any fence stating a trespass warning. How could, why should a Park Department head charge one person instead of the hundreds who have done the same? Why
would someone waste the court time of Cook county on this nonsense?
If someone has this amount of vengeance or rage against a citizen, should
they be in the service of the public, with the public trust?
It is ludicrous to have brought this alleged incident to a Cook County Courthouse where murders, rapes, gang violence and other dangerous
criminal activity is put on a back burner because of this frivolous personal insecurity and a call for revenge from the Park Board. The Illinois Senate
has removed our last Governor because of alleged conduct that was not
held to be in the service of the citizens.
It is probably too much to expect the Illinois Senate to help Dr. Golden,
but during the next election we might all take action in the form of a vote
and cleanse the Park system of this bad behavior.
Judge Gregory Robert Ginex is hearing the trial of Dr. Golden. The judge
is earning some $147,000.00 a year. There is also a State Prosecutor, the cost of the court house, security, the clerk's staff, and more costs on top of that. The Park's of Oak Park is paying a lot more than that for their attendees and on the first day of the trial. There were some four people there and more for the whole trial. All of this energy, money, and a total waste of time, given to the cause of prosecuting Mr. Les Golden at the taxpayers purse, and unless you love revenge and don't mind looking stupid it might be your pot of tea.
The wasted money could buy books, provide medical care, and a host of
other noble ventures instead of just plain revenge. We wouldn't tolerate this behavior from school children and we certainly should not from elected officials.
After the initial trial date and a date was set in January, but was continued
until February. We will keep you informed.
