Nature Story Times: Nature-inspired stories, crafts and activities for ages 3 -5
with an adult. $1.00 per child. Fridays, Feb. 2nd, 16th at 10:30 a.m.

GoNative! Gardening Series - Starting Native Plants from Seeds: Join us for the first of our monthly gardening workshops focusing on native plants and wildlife-friendly gardening. In this first session, we will discuss the benefits of gardening with native plants, and demonstrate tricks and techniques for easily starting seeds. Participants will receive seeds and other materials to bring home. Advance registration is required; please call 708-366-6530. $1.00 per person. Sun. Feb. 4, 1:00 p.m.

Adult Craft – Bird-house Gourds:  Join us for an interesting craft project for adults, as we take you step-by-step through the process of turning dried bird-house gourds into fabulous finished bird homes. All materials will be provided. Space is limited and advance registration is required; please call 708-366-6530. Please bring a sack lunch. $10.00 per person. Sat. Feb. 10, 10:00 a.m.

Early Morning Fitness Hike: Join us for a brisk Naturalist-led 1 hour hike on our scenic trails to see what’s happening in nature this month. Meet at the entrance of Trailside Museum. Please dress for the weather and for rough ground.  Sat. Feb. 17, 8:00 a.m.

Trailside Museum is OPEN Feb. 19th, Presidents Day

Owl Moon: Children ages 5 – 10 with an adult are invited to learn all about owls through a story, craft and fun activities including touchable owl artifacts. $1.00 per child. Sun. Feb. 25, 1:00 p.m.

Gardening Series – Gardening for Wildlife: Join us for a discussion about the plants and other elements needed to make your garden wildlife-friendly – whether you want to attract butterflies, birds, or every critter. Please call to register at 708-366-6530. $1.00 per person. Sunday, March 4, 1:00 p.m.

Restoration Workday: Join Trailside staff and your neighbors in cutting down invading European buckthorn shrubs around Trailside so the woodlands can support more native wildlife and wildflowers. Tools and refreshments will be provided. For adults and families with children over 10. Sunday, March 11, 1:00 pm

March Winds: Where does the wind come from? Learn all about wind, from breezes to tornados, and then we’ll harness the wind’s power by making a kite! The program will end at Thatcher Woods, where we will fly our creations! For children ages 6 – 12 with an adult; $3.00 per child. Class size limited - please register in advance by calling 708-366-6530. Sunday, March 25, 1:00 p.m.

Naturalist’s Choice: Looking for something fun to do with your kids during their spring school break? Stop by Trailside Museum to enjoy informal Naturalist-led “meet an animal” programs, and simple nature crafts. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Free! Thursday, March 29th, between 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
