The Giving Tree Band

UNIFIED FOLK THEORY Release Show at Frank Lloyd Wright's UNITY TEMPLE
Saturday June 23rd, 2007 at 8pm $15
875 Lake St. Oak Park, IL

A talented group of young singers makes their way to Oak Park to debut their new album entitled:  UNIFIED FOLK THEORY.
The album features some incrediable instrument playing and lots of original songs written by the band.  They're not Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Peter, Paul, and Mary, or Pete Sieger -
they have there own sound and style.

They also have a very humanitarian goal of helping those in
need and the  planet, two good directions.  It would have been
nice to hear some traditional American folk on their album,
but perhaps in the future.  It is nice music, done well and
with the best of intentions from start to finish.

It should be a fun night at Unity Temple, come and hear them,
buy a cd and perhaps become a fan.

The Giving Tree Band is a socially and environmentally conscious group of Chicago folk musicians with a sound described as "all natural progressive acoustic earth music." Using songwriting and performing as a vehicle for community service, the band’s mission is to spread education on natural, healthy, and simple living and inspire a culture of sustainability and peace through music. The economically and ecologically sound decisions of the band include performing unplugged and without electronic accessories (some of the instruments were built from naturally fallen trees and recycled woods), duplicating their CD's with recycled materials at the wind-powered facility of Earthology Records, and selling T-shirts made only from organic cotton.  Their concerts have supported a variety of non-profit organizations including Hand In Hand USA, World Vision, One: The Campaign To Make Poverty History, Action Without Borders, Literacy Works, Illinois Renewable Energy Association, Illinois Environmental Council, Illinois Stewardship Alliance, and Growing Home Farm, which provides training and employment opportunities
in organic agriculture for homeless and low-income people in Chicago.
