To Whom it May Concern:

I hope that the desire to improve a park or make use of funds targeted for a specific task does not exclude some common sense.  Having spoken to numerous neighbors in the immediate area yesterday, many with children who play soccer, I think the field idea is absurd.  Soccer players have for years been playing on fields less than Olympic size,
in River Forest at the Priory (
Fenwick plays there) and even at other fields in Oak Park.

It should also be noted that this field is for children, not adult teams coming here from Europe.  Even if the idea of an Olympic sized field is engrained in the minds of folks, instead of killing old growth trees the field could be moved closer to the Mann School and take out some of the asphalt to allow for the move.

This form of last minute notice on a fence with maps, and total disregard for things like shade for the school children, the beauty of fall foliage, and total destruction of many cherished trees is rude and mindless.
