September 20, 2007 Chicago Police Serve Warrant in Oak Park and Shoot 29 Year Old Male Suspect Multiple Times report by Ed Vincent September 21, 2007 No News Yet On the Fate of the Young Black man shot. ![]() and Home Ave.) the Scene of the Raid. © Suburban Journals of Chicago Inc. photo ![]() Police Gather Near the Scene of the Shooting and Discuss the Event Away from the Press and Residents. © Suburban Journals of Chicago Inc. photo At about 10:00 a.m. Chicago Police from the 18th District Tactical Unit arrived in Oak Park with Oak Park Police to execute a search warrant in Oak Park at 1008 West Washington Blvd. (South-West corner of washington Blvd. and Home Ave.) When the Officers with the warrant entered the suspects apartment, he was not there and the Oak Park officers left the scene. Ms. Menges, a neighbor was walking by at this time and witnessed 6 Oak Park Police Officers at the alley entrance of the residence with their guns drawn and attempting to gain entrance into the apartment. ![]() © Suburban Journals of Chicago Inc. photo The

Chicago Police Statement After Shooting by
Patrick McNulty, Assistant Chicago Deputy Police Superintendent. 0 Chicago Police stayed at the scene and inspected the apartment. They reported to have found a small quantity of cocaine and two semi-automatic handguns. Once the weapons were found the 29 year old man who lives there walked in on the police. They went to apprehend him and he ran from the building. Police reported to have asked him to stop, but he continued to flee on foot and then by car. He exited the rear of the building and ran north down the alley to about the middle of the block where he went into his car on Home Avenue and started to drive away. The Chicago Police Assistant Deputy Police Superintendent Patrick McNulty, then added that the suspect pulled out and tried to head north on Home Avenue. A Chicago squad car was behind him and the suspect is said to have put his car in reverse and crashed into the squad. One of the Chicago Officers who had been chasing on foot after the suspect was reportedly struck by the suspects car while in the street. The Officer, while on the hood of the suspects car is said to have asked the driver to stop. Fearing for his life the Officer is reported to have fired several rounds into the driver of the car. A witness had noted they heard three shots fired. The suspect was then taken by ambulance to Loyola Hospital for surgery and is listed in critical condition at the time of this report. ![]() Officials Re-enter the Raided Apartment for further examinations. © Suburban Journals of Chicago Inc. photo The Officer struck by the car was also taken to the Hospital, but reports are that he is doing fine. A meeting will be held following the investigation here at Area 5 Police Headquarters in Chicago (Grand and Central) with Oak Park Police. The
