A Sixth Grade Student Has Died An Untimely Death

A young student from Brooks Middle School in Oak  Park died apparently from an epileptic seizure, while at the hospital.  The young man was reportedly known to have epilepsy by the staff and had a small seizure while at school on this past Friday afternoon.

He felt all right to take a regular school bus to his home, but on the way he had another seizure on the bus.  The driver
quickly called 911 and was near to the hospital when all of
this happened, so he was directed to proceed to the hospital where the youth was brought into  the emergency room.

The young man died at the hospital later.  Everything was
done to save this young man and our sympathies go to his
loved ones and family.

Dear Parents and Guardians:

It is with deep regret that I inform you of the loss of one of our sixth grade students, Anthony Hopkins.  Anthony had some medical concerns that suddenly worsened, and he passed away Friday evening.  There can be no more devastating loss to a parent than the loss of a child, and our hearts and thoughts go out to Anthony’s family.

The funeral arrangements for Anthony are:

Wake is on Tuesday, December 11, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.

    Funeral is on Wednesday, December 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

    Fountain Jordan Shepherd Funeral Home
418 South Cicero (Cicero & Congress)
    Chicago, Illinois

We have had our social workers available here at school throughout the day today to help any student that might need help in processing this loss.  We will continue to provide services to anyone who might be in need.  Please keep Anthony’s family and friends in your thoughts during this difficult and trying time.

Sincerely,

Tom Sindelar
