Greetings! Oak Park Festival Theatre has brought live professional theatre to Oak Park for over 30 years, and with your help we hope to continue this tradition well into the future. Dear Friend of Festival Theatre This has certainly been a historic year - The Theatre presented our first-ever indoor production, the critically acclaimed staging of Moliere’s Tartuffe at historic Pleasant Home in Oak Park. Our summer productions of Julius Caesar and Picnic received some of the best reviews in our theatre’s history, and we enjoyed enthusiastic crowds in our Austin Gardens venue. Other offerings in 2006 included our Sunday Storytelling Series, our “Sundays at Seven” curtain time, Family Days and our touring show, Classics Connection: Shakespeare’s Scenes, Sonnets and Songs. The growth of Festival Theatre was recognized with grants from the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation, the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation, Community Bank, and a “Best of Class” award from the Oak Park Area Arts Council. Here’s what’s coming in 2006/2007: Our annual Gala on November 18th, 2006 will feature fine food and live entertainment, plus a chance to mingle with this season's playwrights and artistic staff. Don't miss the silent auction. We have put together some amazing items. Visit our website or call (708) 445-4440 for reservations and ticket information. In Spring of 2007, we will return to the Pleasant Home to produce Murder by the Book, by Duncan Greenwood and Robert King, directed by David Mink. Our large scale, period summer production will be Robin Hood, by Scott Lynch-Giddings. This unique and thrilling show was written as if William Shakespeare himself had penned the script. Kevin Theis will direct the action. We will present the Pulitzer Prize winning romance, Talley’s Folly by American playwright Lanford Wilson, directed by Michael Weber. Finally, our touring show has been asked to return for school performances by Urban Gateways and is available for direct bookings for groups of all kinds. http://www.oakparkfestival.com/ Oak Park Festival Theatre, the only Equity theater in the mear west suburbs, is looking for volunteers in several areas.
