Oak Park & River Forest Garden Walk for 2006
report by Ed Vincent The Oak Park & River Forest Garden Walk for 2006 was a great day with beautiful weather and lots of charming gardens and yards. This was the 13th anniversary of the annual walk, primarily exhibiting displays in the two villages. Several years ago there was a walk hosted in Forest Park, but their club failed to form and did not repeat. There are some discussing the possiblity of having a club include their name or past members into this club. It would be nice to either have a weekend event of two shows or a bigger one on the one day. ![]() Gail and Jay Friedman's Yard Beautiful and creative. © Oak Park Journal photo ![]() The Friedman's fountain was one of the best to be seen. © Oak Park Journal photo ![]() Flowers and water features in a small area. © Oak Park Journal photo ![]() © Oak Park Journal photo ![]() © Oak Park Journal photo ![]() The Friedman's yard before they began their adventure. © Oak Park Journal scan of photo from the Friedmans ![]() The Italian garden of Paola Ribaudo Pickrell and Charles Pickrell. © Oak Park Journal photo The Italian garden above was a formal delight with excellent brick work, new garage, and four year old well trimmed bushes. Charles Pickrell noted that his wife can spend up to 3 hours just keeping things in order, time well spent and enjoyed. ![]() © Oak Park Journal photo ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() © Oak Park Journal photos

The walk this year had lots of grand works, yards, gardens, and plenty of seeds for new ideas for your own yard and excavations. Information of either membership or
