Forest Park Rib-Off a Huge Success in the First Year of Hosting.

by Ed Vincent

The weather was beautiful, the music good, and the taste was
fantastic.  To walk around the area and smell the ribs wafting
through the air made plenty come hungry and leave with a smile.

The Mayor of Forest Park, the Honorable Anthony Calderone
spent hours talking to the residents and answering questions, a
great place for citizens to meet some of their elected officials.

Forest Park resident, Altenheim visitors, and folks driving by came in for
a taste of the fest.

Most of the contestants had sold all of there food by early in the
afternoon and that is when all the sales went to the Pros who had
come to be at the feast-to take up the slack when others ran out
of food.  Charlie Robinson's Ribs was there and helped with the
judging too.  When all of the amateur chefs had been judged the
results were the following:

$500.00 cash first prize went to Mr. Anthony Lazarra
$300.00 cash second prize went to Don Chual (Forest Park
         Fire Dept.
)
$200.00 cash for third place went to the Chi-Town Smokers

The crowds choice as favorite went to Mr. Dan Novak, and
that had a  $100.00 cash prize.

Mayor Calderone listens to a resident thank him for his fine work and is
pleased that her daughter and son in law now live in the Village.
