Forest
Park Village Council Meeting
November 13, 2006
reported by Tammy Forczak
The meeting began with the
pledge of allegiance, roll call, and approval of the minutes from a
previous council meeting on October 23, 2006.
Mayor Calderone then opened the
floor to public comment. Local resident, Patty McKenna walked up
to the podium and expressed her concerns about several of the
properties on the docket for that day. Ms. McKenna pointed out
that the residents of those properties were only informed of their
listing on the docket the night before and were not given a chance to
have their voices be heard.
The mayor acknowledged Ms.
McKenna’s comments as well as other comments on the subject. He
then continued with the council meeting agenda.
Department reports from finance
and the police department were
given as well as any bills by resolution that needed to be addressed.
New business was then addressed
in the meeting. Each item was covered in order as was listed on
the agenda for that day. The first item on the listing was a
motion to authorize a $50,000 grant agreement between the Village of
Forest Park and the Illinois State Board of Education. The
committee members approved the motion without contest.
Items 2 through 9 were the
Forest Park properties being considered
for acquisition and condemnation by the village. These properties
would be acquired and demolished by the village in order to make
room for the village parking lot project currently underway.
In light of public concern and
expressed frustration by members of the audience, the council postponed
discussion and decision making on items 2 through 9 until the next
council meeting on November 27, 2006.
Other items on the docket
included a resolution approving a Water Supply Agreement between the
Brookfield-North Riverside Water Commission and the Village of Forest
Park, a motion to extend a Fire Protection Services contract between
the Village of Forest Park and the Department of Veterans Affairs, a
motion to approve an agreement for GIS services between the Village of
Forest park and the Cook County Assessor’s Office, an ordinance
authorizing a change to a non-conforming building located at 631
Marengo and a motion to reject SCADA and Back-Up Generator Bid and
re-bid the SCADA portion
of the work. Council members approved all of these motions,
agreements, and ordinances with little or no contest.
The mayor requested the
administrator’s report, commissioner reports and asked for any
additional new business. There was no new business at that
time. The meeting was then adjourned.
